Nottingham Gang Show 2015

The Junior Cast auditions (under 10 years) are on Sunday 12th October 2014 9.30am to 12.00noon at the Nottingham Girls High School.  This is the opportunity of a life time for the young people.

The tickets for the 2015 show are now on sale at the Theatre Royal.  If your Group would like to reserve tickets initially and pay for them nearer the Show in January 2015,  you can do so through the County Office, with the attached flyer.  If you wish to order tickets and the number is under 20, this can also be done through the County Office thus avoiding the Theatres Administration Fees. For ticket orders over 20, you can book through the Theatre Royal as the Administration Fees do not apply. The Theatre Royal cannot reserve tickets.

The Big Weekend 2015

Yes, it’s happening again at the fantastic venue of the improved Southwell Race Course.  The team are working hard to ensure it will be even bigger and better than last time.

To join us for The BIG Weekend then all you have to do is 'Register your interest'. This year we've made it easier for you. You can now register your interest online at http://notts-scouts.org.uk/TheBIGWeekend, click on booking, send a cheque/cash deposit of 5 per person to the County Office and you're all booked in. We will then do the rest and contact you when full booking needs to be taken in 2015.

Why do I have to register my interest? Registering your groups or sections interest ensures that we can allocate you enough space. If you don't register interest you might find we don't have enough activities or space for you!

25th NESST Challenge Walk 2015

This event will take place  on the 17th January 2015.  As with previous years there will be a Beaver Walk and Cub Walk in the afternoon of the 17th with the short and long Challenge walks in the evening and overnight.

For further information and application forms visit http://www.nesst.co.uk and click on Challenge Walk.

Jamboree Update

  • We are delighted to announce that our fundraising Jambo unit badge is now available!  It was designed by our very talented unit members and features a Manga style Robin Hood.  Hood's 40 participants are already actively selling these across the county and beyond (Hong Kong seems to be the record sale so far for distance).  Badges are available from County Office for 2 each and all money raised will go towards the Jamboree experience. The design is shown in an attachment.

  • Heard of 'Japan in a box'?  We have a box filled with all things Japan which is available to be booked out by sections and groups for their own Japan themed events.  Japanese snacks, clothing, pictures, games, origami and flags are all included in the box.  Our participants have already been using the box at AGMs, fundraising events and as part of global challenge badge activities.  Anyone interested in booking the box should get in touch with County Office.

  • Thank you for your continued support for the Jamboree, we'll have more information to share with you about the journey so far, shortly.

Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet

Friday 17th to Sunday 19th October 2014 (Friday 8pm to midnight and Saturday 9am to midnight)

Full details of this international Scouting event http://jotajoti.info

I am setting a challenge to the Jamboree 2015 contingent to complete over the JOTA/JOTI

Weekend this year. It is an individual challenge, with a prize for the winner. The challenge is simply to speak to as many Scouts as possible across the world that are attending the Jamboree in Japan. All the contingent members need to do is collect the names, country and call sign or email address of contingent members outside of Nottinghamshire.

There is an option for the Jamboree contingent to camp at the JOTA Nottinghamshire base, at the 75th Nottingham Scout HQ at Fernwood Infant School. You will need to provide your own catering and tents, and let me know in advance that you will be staying.

I would like the Jamboree contingent to work out a rota, so that through the opening hours of JOTA there are two contingent members available to talk to visitors about your experience so far with the Jamboree team. This will be informal chats, not formal presentations.

Please let me know asap if you are able to attend. Below is the full address and the information about the event. Hopefully refreshments are also being provided by the Scout Group.
